I came to the Coromandel for the summer of 1989 and never left.

I have worked all of my adult life in teaching, social service and environmental activism. At this stage of life I am retired and pleased for the opportunity to be a more active part of my community through groups such as the Hauraki Community Resilience Trust.

I am lucky enough to live in the hills above Thames on an acre of land filled with garden, native trees and birds. My two children are in their mid-forties and getting on with their own lives in other places, but that is ok because I do have a few chickens and a husband to talk to.
